The ATOMOS Shogun 7 is a 7 inch HDR monitor/recorder designed for demanding cinema and broadcast workflows. It features a 1920×1200 panel with up to 1500 nits peak brightness and a wide color gamut, allowing accurate HDR monitoring in PQ and HLG. The display uses a zone dimming backlight to improve contrast and highlight control.
The Shogun 7 records up to 4K 60p and 2K or HD at high frame rates in ProRes, ProRes RAW and DNx. Recording is done to SATA SSDs or AtomX SSDmini via the standard Atomos media bay. The unit offers quad HDMI inputs and a single 12G SDI in and out, enabling multi camera switching and ISO recording. Up to four 1080p streams can be captured simultaneously while switching a clean program feed.
AtomOS provides tools like waveform, vectorscope, false color, focus peaking, zebra, frame guides and LUT loading. ProRes RAW recording is supported with a wide range of cinema and mirrorless cameras over SDI or HDMI, depending on the model.
Power comes from dual NP-F slots with hot swap support. The cooling system is active, but stays moderate in volume. Weight sits around 700 g without batteries, making it suitable for shoulder rigs, tripods and director monitors.
Overall the Shogun 7 is a versatile all in one monitor, recorder and switcher for productions that need reliable 4K workflows and multi camera support.
