This set was originally built at ARRI Austria in the late 1980s and carries the familiar look of the Zeiss Standard Speeds. The image is slightly softer compared to modern lenses, with a gentle contrast and a more organic rendering that feels grounded rather than polished.
What makes these lenses stand out is their macro capability. Depending on the focal length, they allow close focus down to 1:1, opening up a completely different scale within the same visual language. Details feel tangible, almost physical, without breaking away from the overall look of the set.
The lenses feature an automatic exposure compensation when focusing close. As you move into the macro range, the aperture subtly closes, which affects the exposure in a very natural way. It’s something you feel rather than see, but it becomes part of how the lenses behave.
Despite being macro lenses, they don’t feel limited to that use. They work just as well in normal shooting situations, carrying the same visual consistency, just with the added ability to move extremely close when needed.
