A lens built for distance, compression and isolation. The Canon Century 300mm creates an image that feels detached from its surroundings, pulling subjects out of space and flattening depth in a very direct way. Available for rent in Berlin at RGB Rental.

At 300mm, the lens introduces a strong sense of compression, reducing spatial depth and bringing background elements closer to the subject. The image becomes more graphic, more focused, with a clear separation between foreground and background. The rendering is clean but not clinical. Contrast remains controlled, while highlights roll off smoothly and the image retains a natural softness, especially at wider apertures. The bokeh is tight and structured, emphasizing the compressed perspective rather than dissolving it completely.

It reacts predictably to light. Flares are minimal and controlled, and the lens maintains a stable image even in more contrast-heavy situations. This makes it a reliable tool when working at longer distances where precision matters.

Due to its focal length, the lens works best in controlled setups, long-lens compositions or situations where the camera needs to observe from a distance. It encourages a more deliberate way of shooting, where framing and timing become more critical than movement. Not designed for versatility or handheld work. Best used when distance, compression and visual separation are key elements of the image.
