The Sigma 14–24mm f/2.8 DG DN Art is a modern ultra-wide zoom built for full-frame digital cinema and high-resolution sensors. It delivers a clean, high-contrast image with strong sharpness across the frame, while keeping distortion surprisingly controlled for this focal range.
Despite its precision, the lens doesn’t feel overly clinical. Highlights roll off gently, and there’s a subtle softness that keeps the image from becoming harsh, especially in wider shots. At 14mm, it opens up space in a very direct way, creating a strong sense of depth without completely breaking the composition.
Like most ultra-wide designs, the lens features a bulbous front element and no front filter thread. Instead, it supports rear-mounted ND filter systems, allowing for a lightweight setup without the need for matte boxes or front-mounted filters.
The constant f/2.8 aperture makes it usable in lower light, while internal focusing keeps breathing to a minimum, which is particularly useful for gimbal work and moving shots. The lens remains stable across different lighting situations, with controlled flares and consistent contrast.
Despite being based on a stills lens, it integrates easily into cine workflows. It pairs seamlessly with other Sigma Art zooms like the 24–70mm and 70–200mm, maintaining consistent color rendering, contrast and overall image across the full focal range from wide to telephoto.
