The Tokina Cinema ATX lens is designed specifically for digital cinema cameras, offering a balance between modern optical precision and a subtly organic, filmic look. Unlike rehoused still lenses, the Cinema ATX series is built from the ground up for professional shooting – with PL mount, 0.8 pitch gear rings, long focus rotation and consistent housing design across the set.
Their image character is sharp and detailed, but not overly clinical. The lenses deliver neutral color, gentle contrast and smooth fall-off. Skin tones render naturally, bokeh is clean and pleasing, and chromatic aberrations are well-controlled. They also show minimal focus breathing, which is particularly appreciated in narrative and commercial work.
Mechanically, the Cinema ATX primes offer a solid, all-metal construction, unified front diameters (95 mm), and a focus throw of approximately 300 degrees, ensuring accurate focus pulls. Despite their professional mechanics, they remain compact and relatively lightweight compared to high-end cinema glass.
