The Hawk V-Lite anamorphics are the forth variation of the Hawk V-series produced by the german lens manufacturer Vantage Film. Vantage was formed in 1993 by the german camera assistants Peter Märtin and Wolfgang Bäumler. After the collapse of the Soviet Union many talented optical designers went west looking for work. Soon Vantage hired Dr. Anatoly B. Agourok who was working for Lomo before and designed the outstanding Lomo Superspeed Anamorphics as well as the Lomo Superspeed Sphericals and many others. Starting his work at Vintage he designed many off the famous hawk lenses. With this particular Set Dr. Agourok was able to reduce the V-Serie´s size.
They deliver the unique look and reliability of Hawk Anamorphic glass in a smaller package. The combination of their great optical characteristics, robustness, user-friendliness, range of focal lengths and surprisingly small size – smaller than many commonly used spherical primes – has made them popular worldwide. The range of focal lengths was recently expanded to include the new Hawk V-Lite 55 mm/ T2.2 macro lens capable of extreme close focus. Proven in the field, Hawk V-Lites are workhorse lenses with a thoroughbred pedigree.
