This Canon 300mm lens, rehoused by Century Precision Optics, combines classic Canon telephoto glass with modern cinema mechanics. Originally designed as a still-photo lens, it was rebuilt into a fully cine-compatible housing, featuring industry-standard focus and iris gears, a PL mount and a robust, all-metal body. The result is a long-lens option that delivers character, reach and reliability for cinema use.

Optically, the lens produces a slightly softer, more organic image compared to modern telephoto cine primes. It offers beautiful compression, gentle contrast, smooth fall-off and natural skin tones — especially appealing for portrait shots, nature documentaries or atmospheric long-lens cinematography. Flares are subtle and warm, with a vintage-style highlight roll-off that gives the image a cinematic yet nostalgic feel.

This 300mm Century rehouse also pairs beautifully with other vintage lens sets such as Canon FDLeica R, or similar rehoused classics. Its color tone, contrast and organic rendering blend seamlessly with these lenses, making it an ideal telephoto extension for vintage cine kits.

Mechanically, the Century rehouse provides a long focus throw for precise control, internal focus with minimal breathing and a reliable PL-mount system. While not clinically sharp like modern telephoto primes (e.g. Arri Master or Cooke 300mm), it is valued for its personality and painterly rendering.
