The Sigma 70–200mm f/2.8 DG DN is the second-generation, mirrorless-optimized version of Sigma’s classic telephoto zoom – redesigned for full-frame cinema and high-resolution hybrid cameras. With a constant f/2.8 aperture, updated optics, faster autofocus and improved image stabilization, it delivers professional performance for filmmakers and photographers who need reach, speed and reliability.
Optically, the lens produces high contrast and excellent sharpness throughout the zoom range, paired with a smooth, cinematic falloff and natural skin tones. Unlike the older version, this Mk II is built specifically for mirrorless systems, featuring reduced focus breathing, internal focusing and a more compact, lighter body. The optical design minimizes chromatic aberration and flaring, while maintaining a pleasing, shallow depth of field at f/2.8.
With Optical Stabilization (OS), dual HLA linear motors and precise manual focus feel, the lens works equally well for handheld documentary work, gimbal setups and controlled narrative productions. Its weather-sealed construction and magnesium alloy body make it durable in harsh shooting conditions.
Despite being a still-photo lens, it adapts easily to cine workflows – especially when fitted with follow focus gears. Color rendering matches well with other Sigma Art lenses like the 24–70mm and 14–24mm DG DN, creating a cohesive visual language across focal lengths.
