The Zeiss 11-110mm T2.2 is a highly respected Super 16-format cine zoom that offers an impressive focal range and a distinctive Zeiss look. Originally designed for cameras like the ARRI SR3, it covers 11 mm to 110 mm at constant T2.0 and has stood the test of time thanks to its solid build quality and versatile optical characteristics.

Despite being intended for Super 16, the lens performs well on modern cameras in S16-crop mode for example on the ARRI Alexa 35.  The 11-110mm is parfocal, equipped with industry standard focus rings and a robust PL-mount design — truly built for heavy-duty, run-and-gun setups.

Optically the zoom delivers the classic Zeiss T* look: rich colours, strong contrast in controlled lighting, and beautiful flares when pointed toward strong light sources.  At the same time, it carries hallmarks of its era: chromatic aberrations can show up wide open, focus breathing is noticeable, and sharpness improves when stopped down to around T2.8-4.  These traits are not drawbacks — they give the lens personality and a signature aesthetic that many filmmakers seek.

For cinematographers looking for one zoom to cover everything from wide to long on Super 16 or cropmodes, the 11-110mm is a rare combination of range, optical flavour and practicality. It is especially ideal for dynamic productions where lens changes might be difficult, or visual consistency is key.
