With the rising interest in anamorphic motion pictures spreading globally in the 1950s, the need for lenses prompted many Japanese companys to develop their own anamorphic lenses. One of the first companies to manufacture scope lenses was „Kowa Koks Seisakusho” witch later re-branded as the Kowa Company Ltd.
The Kowa Prominar-NAC lenses is a cooperation between Kowa and a mother upstart Japanese company NAC. Around the 1960s they developed the Kowa Prominar-NAC 35BS series witch are surprisingly small and compact. There small size make them well suited for lightweight requirements such as handheld, steadicam, gimbal and drone work. They are sharp even wide open and have beautiful, big lens flares.
