SONY ILME FX3

The Sony FX3 is a compact full frame cinema camera designed for lightweight setups and fast moving productions. Available for rental in Berlin, it combines strong low light performance, full frame 4K recording up to 120 fps and Sony’s S Cinetone look in a body that is especially well suited to handheld, gimbal, car rig and travel based workflows. Sony lists a full frame sensor, 4K up to 120 fps and high sensitivity as key features of the FX3.  

Compared to the Sony FX6, the FX3 is the smaller and more stripped back option. Both cameras offer full frame 4K recording up to 120 fps and strong low light performance, but the FX6 adds features such as a built in electronic variable ND filter and a more production oriented body for easier handling in traditional on set environments. That makes the FX3 especially attractive when a production needs maximum flexibility in the smallest possible package.  

Compared to the BURANO and VENICE, the FX3 is not intended to replace a full scale cinema camera package. Its strength lies in offering a much smaller, lighter and faster full frame setup for shoots where mobility, speed and a compact footprint matter most. At the same time, the FX3 can also work very well as an additional camera on larger productions, for example on gimbals, in cars, in tight handheld situations or wherever a smaller body is an advantage. As part of Sony’s Cinema Line, it supports S Log3, S Cinetone and Cine EI based workflows, which makes it easier to integrate into productions using higher tier Sony cameras such as the BURANO or VENICE.
